Partiamo dai fatti. Io ho sempre disegnato e, probabilmente, sempre lo farò.

I ritratti sono ciò che disegno; ho tentato anche con i paesaggi ma mi pareva sempre che al paesaggio mancasse qualcosa. Un’anima, probabilmente.

Amo gli occhi, le rughe, i capelli e tutto ciò che si nasconde nei chiaroscuri di un viso. C’è tutto un mondo nelle zone d’ombra. Non si vede ma sulla carta non può esser tralasciato perché è quel che l’occhio non vede che fa “respirare” il ritratto. O almeno l’ambizione sarebbe questa, ecco.

Tutti abbiamo delle qualità e la mia sembra esser quella di avere una “buona mano”.

“Tutte le qualità che non vengono usate nella vita quotidiana si ammassano come ragnatele”, scriveva F. S. Fitzgerald. Ecco, sino ad ora ho tentato di sfuggire a questo destino di ammasso di ragnatele usando questa mia qualità al riparo dal mondo, e diciamolo pure, tanto vale essere onesti sin d’ora, al riparo dal giudizio.

Arriva però un momento in cui il mondo ti bussa alla porta, con fare anche piuttosto insistente, urlando: “Qualcuno deve vederli però!”. E allora sai che c’è?! Facciamo un bel blog così chi vuole li vede!

Let’s start from scratch. I’ve always drawn and  hopefully, I’ll do it until I’ll be able to hold a pencil.

 Portraits is what I draw. I tried landscapes but to me it felt like something was always lacking. A Soul, probably.

 I love eyes, wrinkles, hair, and everything hiding between the light/shade effect on a face.

There’s a whole world in those dark spots. It’s not always easy to see those shades but they MAKE the portrait, or at least that’s what I’m trying to do.

 We all have some qualities and mine seems to be a “good hand”.

“All the qualities which are not used in everyday life get amassed like spider webs”, wrote F. S. Fitzgerald. So, until now I tried to avoid this “amassed spider webs destiny” using my quality far from the world, and being honest, far and safe also from the judgment.

 Then someday day the world knocks at your door shouting: “Someone should see your art!”. And here comes this blog.

Nel Caso qualcuno se lo stesse chiedendo….

1) io non ho alcuna formazione artistica. La tecnica di base, quindi, è quella del fai da te.

2) Gli strumenti utilizzati per tutti i disegni sono: matita 7b (solo in alcuni casi 8b); gomme da cancellare di due spessori diversi, dita (il miglior sfumino di sempre).

3) Perché le citazioni. Sono tre le cose che faccio: disegnare, leggere e guardare film (queste ultime due cose in quantità anche eccessiva, forse). Passa un anno, poi due, poi tre e ti ritrovi con blocchi interi di frasi e pensieri annotati.

Ho pensato quindi che regalare qualcuno di questi pensieri ai ritratti sarebbe stato utile per rompere il loro silenzio.

 In case you’re wondering…

1) I’m self- educated and have no artistic instruction.

2) My tools are: 7b Pencil (rarely a 8b), two kind of erasers and mainly fingers (the best shaders ever).

3) The Quotes, why?  What I love to do: drawing, reading & watching movies… perhaps too much.Time flows and suddenly you realize you have a lot of books full of thoughts and quotes. Giving those thoughts to the portraits may be a nice way to break their silence and give them purpose.
